I am a proud Italian-American who grew up in Long Island, NY. If you're not sure what that's like, it involves a A LOT of family, food, and love.
But my relationship with food was not always so loving.
I was lucky enough to have been raised by my grandparents, who taught me countless recipes & most importantly, how to fall head over heels in love with food.
My grandpa was a firm believer that food does not come out of a box. Our meals were home-cooked and generally balanced. So that was the standard I set for myself.
When I went to college, it became too difficult to have a healthy relationship with food. Things got busy, I had 2 jobs, I was going to school full-time, I had bills and life hit me HARD.
Despite this, my love for food never dwindled. But my ability to feed myself healthy foods while also living an insanely busy life took it's toll on my body.
I spent the next 10 years gaining and losing 30lbs. That experience is something I would not wish on my worst enemies. It’s sounds a little dramatic but honestly, it’s true.
I didn’t know it at the time, but I was stuck in a classic dieting pendulum.
It’s like the pirate ship ride at a carnival. You swing back and forth, gaining speed at each swing. Think of the right side as restriction and the left as indulgence. The more you restrict, the more you will inevitably indulge afterwards. Eventually your willpower is going to run out and pendulum will continue to swing until YOU STOP IT.
As I observed the women around me, I saw that they were stuck on that ride too!
Before that, I honestly believed that you just got fatter as you got older.
It wasn’t until I realized that this was a freaking ride caused by the dieting industry and their restrictive weight loss strategy.
Fast forward 12 years, I did end up losing those pesky 30 pounds.
And now I get to share that ride with my weight loss clients. Showing them how to be in control of their choices and their weight.
My new mission now is to share every single piece of knowledge I have with women who are living like I once was. I want to empower and break glass ceilings in the world of women's health.
You deserve this life. You can have it. I want this for you.
You can wake up every day in a body you love. Myself and my clients are living proof of this.
When I was just 5 years old, my dad and my grandpa took me to Disney. There was a small train ride for kids my age. However, only the children could ride the train, the adults had to stay behind the fence. As my grandpa tells this story, he explains what it was like to watch me and the other kids get settled before the ride can take off. He explains “Michelle just got up there and started helping all of the other little kids. Where to sit, how to buckle the safety belt, and even comforting another child who was crying.” Being surrounded by the other kid’s moms he was asked “has your granddaughter ridden this before?” He replies “No, she’s just a hustler”.
I will forever enjoy hearing my grandpa share that story. I think it sums up my personality in the best sort of way. When I hear the term “hustler”, I don’t think of a cheating gambler. I think of a person who works hard and isn’t afraid to make sure the odds are stacked in their favor. When you stack the odds in your favor, you give yourself the best chance at winning. That’s my philosophy to weight loss. Make the habits so small, so specific, and so difficult for you to fail at, that it makes failing feel like an impossibility.
My work in the dieting industry has been that of a disruptor and a hustler. The odds are stacked in my favor to succeed. I set them up exactly that way. You can too. You just have to hustle.
When you don’t find Michelle at the gym or coaching women towards their goals, you can find her out, about and LIVING life. She is proud to practice what she preaches and always prioritizes what's important to her. She spends her free time as a hard working badass who collects stamps on her passport, memories, and lots of tattoos along the way. Adventure is the number one value she lives her life by.
Every industry has its winners and losers, and to be frank, there are a lot of money hungry losers in the dieting industry. Michelle is the first one to tell you if she can help you or not and she stands firm in her promises. She will also help you gradually & efficiently change your behaviors so you can be in control of your weight and still eat what you love. She knows firsthand how broken our healthcare system is and is determined to set a higher standard for female patients in the healthcare industry.
